The motor is a device that converts electrical energy into kinetic energy. It has many types. The phenomenon and causes of damage to different types of motors will be different, but to sum up, there are two categories: electrical and mechanical.
1. The bearing is broken, the bearing temperature is too high, and the raceways and rolling elements have cracks and scars.
1. Insufficient lubricating oil, aging or adding too much, the lubricating oil should not exceed 70% of the bearing cap and bearing volume.
2. There are impurities such as iron powder in the lubricating oil, or the oil ring inside is stuck.
3. It is not installed in place, such as the bearing, the stop of the bearing cap is not assembled, or the two are too tight and too loose. The concentricity is not correct, and there is an eccentric force that causes damage.
4. The level of the coupling is not adjusted well, the chain or belt between the transmissions is too tight, the shaft is impacted and deformed by the load force, etc.
5. The quality of the bearing is not good, and the clearance of the bearing is too small or too large.
6. The frequency of starting and stopping of the motor is too high, and the rigidity is too large. For some occasions, it is not suitable to start with full pressure, and soft start will be better.
Second, the problem of selection, installation and use
1. The level between the motor and the load is not adjusted well, resulting in a radial impact force that is not concentric between the load and the motor.
2. The screws of the motor feet are not fixed properly, or the fixing frame is not designed well.
3. The model is selected without considering the load situation. Some loads are frequently started and stopped. Maybe only 1KW of power is needed in the calculation. Considering the heat dissipation and weakness in the design, it may require 3KW to use.
4. The wiring is wrong, for example, the star is connected to a triangle, and the triangle is connected to a star, which may cause overheating inside the motor.
5. The load needs some special braking. The motor does not have corresponding mechanical or electronic brakes, so it may be too late to release energy when parking.
6. The motor is not designed with some protection devices, such as overheating, overloading, overheating, and lack of equality. These may occur during use, but because the protection is not in place, the motor will be burned directly.
3. Environmental issues
In some occasions, there is a lot of dust. If a brushed DC motor is used, the fan and other devices are not installed to clear the dust in time, which will cause the carbon brushes and commutators to wear in a short time. In high temperature occasions, such as over 50 degrees for a long time, and the load is relatively heavy, when selecting motors, high temperature-resistant motors such as F and H were not used, and at the same time, a separate air cooling system was not designed.
4. Motor quality problems
1. The copper wire of the coil winding is unqualified, or the number of turns is not enough, or there are problems such as different resistance values of each phase.
2. The material of the squirrel cage guide bar rotor is not good enough, and it breaks during use.
3. The motor insulation is not good. Sometimes the power grid voltage of the factory will be too high, and the voltage will fluctuate slightly, causing insulation breakdown.
No matter what the situation, as long as the motor is vibrated, noisy, or has an unusual smell during the use of the motor, it must be stopped and checked carefully to ensure that there is no problem before continuing to use it.
